We are headquartered in Boston, MA with offices in the UK, China, and Japan.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking a Director, Marketing Communications & Branding to manage Marketing Communications, Channel Marketing initiatives, and integrated marketing campaigns across the organization?s multiple business units and varied customer profiles. This role requires the ability to plan, direct, budget, and manage programs consistent with the Color Kinetics brand, associated business strategy and objectives, and the unique needs of CK. Working hand in hand with the Manager of Corporate communications and media outreach, this role will direct the expression, timing, weight, and messaging of multiple media vehicles including advertising, trade show or event promotion, all external collateral, direct marketing, POP, and merchandising. This position will also be chiefly responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of chosen vehicles and campaigns and establishing benchmarking, ROI analysis, and customer feedback mechanisms by which the team can evaluate effectiveness over time.
The Director is also responsible for maintaining the global brand architecture, and corporate identity across multiple constituencies both within and outside the organization. He/she will enforce adherence to established brand policy around the brand?s multiple expressions and behavior (including logo treatment, typography, colors, textures, materials, photographic style, and tone of voice). This role will also manage the company?s media assets to ensure brand integration with customers, distributors, the sales force (including representatives), international offices, and OEM/Licensing partners.
Marketing Communications responsibilities include designing integrated marketing communications strategies, executing on marketing communications programs and tracking program results. This includes marketing collateral messaging, copy, design and development; videography and photography programs; sales tool development (CDs, presentations, displays, visual aids); sales promotion; website content management (internal and external); competitive assessment; and vendor management; marketing communications budget development, execution and tracking; and supervising and developing assigned staff.
PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES / OBJECTIVES
Marketing Communications:
Working closely with the VP of Marketing and Manager, Corporate Communications, the Director will develop communication strategy and communication plans. Will also establish and maintain depth of knowledge of CK key products and markets, and develop strategy and budgets for new communication programs with the objective of meeting quantifiable financial goals.
Manage CK marketing communications, interfacing with internal CK departments as well as industry partners, customers, and select outside vendors. Develop and write materials, which are tailored to various media and business units, including Internet and sales tools. Provide creative strategy in marketing initiatives and then facilitate the production and delivery of such initiatives. Refine and maintain quality control processes for all sales and marketing materials. Manage collateral development for multiple language requirements.
Manage videography and photography programs. Work closely with CK?s graphic design and corporate communications department to determine project scope and scale. Weave pieces into various media and sales tools to tell the CK story and positioning.
Manage web site content; ensuring information adheres to cohesive brand strategy. Responsible for keeping corporate and product information fresh and current. Develop new positioning and or programs as appropriate.
Manage select vendor relationships such as printers, videographers, photographers, translation companies, etc.
Maintain knowledge and understanding of compliance requirements as they apply to CK's business. Work with Legal Department to ensure that sales/marketing material contains appropriate disclosures and disclaimers as required by regulatory agencies.
Work with VP, Marketing to plan, manage and adhere to established marketing communications programs budgets.
Brand Management:
Working closely with the VP, will create a differentiating visual language and implement this brand strategy and integration across organization. Ensure the systematization of strategic and executional guidelines.
Work with public relations to help ensure the core proposition of the CK brand translates to business, consumer, lighting industry, and government/regulatory agency press opportunities.
NATURE & SCOPE
This position works closely with the VP of Marketing to develop the brand strategy and subsequent marketing communication strategy and communication plan. With the VP Marketing, this position will consistently consult with VP of Sales on developing the most effective channel marketing plan.
A high degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Excellent interpersonal skills are very important to this position, as much of the job involves interacting with both varied CK employees and departments such as Sales and Product Management, as well as third-party channel partners such as CKDI, manufacturer?s reps, CKJ, and international distributors.
REQUIREMENTS
? 11-15 years of experience in a marketing environment, with lighting industry, high tech or related industry experience. A solid understanding of lighting industry concepts and terminology needed.
? A proven record of developing and managing staff is necessary.
? Strong leadership, strategic thinking, business partnering, oral and written communications and planning skills are essential.
? Excellent writing/editing skills required.
? Excellent organizational skills, with proven ability to work well under deadline pressure and manage a number of critical projects at the same time.
? Must have excellent interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
? Must have strong PC skills.
? Must be able to handle heavy volume and a fast paced environment.
? Must be a team player.
? Must be very accurate and detail minded.
EDUCATION
? BA/BS in Business, Marketing, or similar field is required. MBA is a plus, but not required.
