Director, Marketing & Business Development

Gate Gourmet is the second largest global airline caterer with annual revenues of CHF 2.3 billion. Our global operations extend to 109 facilities over 29 countries. This role is based in Reston, VA - where the strategy and vision of the organization are shaped on a daily basis.

 

Summary:

Strategic planning and implementation of marketing and development programs, both short and long range, targeted toward existing and new markets.

 

Responsibilities:

?  Develop and implement strategic planning initiatives, marketing programs, and sales process improvements in order to meet corporate sales objectives and support overall strategic direction

?  Enhance and manage work processes, sales reporting, and controls of the divisional sales force

?  Manage and oversee successful implementation of high-impact, high-visibility business development projects including new market entry, new product development, or customer retention

?  Develop and monitor adherence to company-wide standards for commercial contracts, pricing, marketing collateral, and product presentations.

?  Responsible for the management of competitor and market profiles (i.e. - products, sales and marketing activities, etc.).

?  Develop and recommend product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategies to produce the highest possible long-term profitability.

?  Oversee and ensure consistent corporate image and re-branding efforts including: trade shows, materials, communication coordination, etc.

?  Direct sales forecasting activities, key performance metrics tracking, and financial modeling of various customer value propositions and operational support alternatives.

?  Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.

?  Guides preparation of marketing activity reports and presents to executive management.

?  Client interaction via negotiating and assisting in closing deals.

?  Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.

?  Liaison between corporate marketing group and other units (i.e. ? Finance/Pricing/Procurement/Sales)

?  Analyzes sales performance and planning to determine effectiveness.



Qualifications:
Education & Experience Requirements

?  Bachelors Degree in Sales, Marketing or Business preferred

?  Masters (Business Administration preferred)

?  Seven plus years of related experience with broad functional experience in areas of strategic planning and marketing, business and market development, market research/planning, or promotions/advertising

Additional Skills:

?  Proficiency in development and preparation of large dollar RFPs/contract/proposals including financial oversight, presentation development, etc.

?  In-depth knowledge of sales and marketing techniques and finance principles

?  Effective ability to communicate orally and written with internal and external persons at all levels of the organization

?  Ability to anticipate, analyze and solve practical problems/issues at both a strategic and functional level

?  Ability to extract pertinent data from several data points and produce effective, concise executive summaries.

?  Must be able to manage multiple priorities

?  Experience in marketing and service systems development and deployment

?  Strong customer orientation

?  Ability to influence and persuade to achieve desired outcomes

?  Proficiency in MS Office with particular strength in Excel and PowerPoint

?  Willingness to travel
