Director of Communications

American College of Physicians, a membership organization for internal medicine, located in center city Philadelphia, seeks a Director of Communications to oversee member communications and media relations.  Responsibilities include developing and executing member communications strategies to reach 120,000 member internists and medical students and securing national and local media coverage for key College issues.  This individual will develop and disseminate information about College initiatives through broadcast, electronic and print media and develop external relationships to increase awareness of College?s activities, products, and services.  The Director will manage a staff of six.


The successful candidate will have at least 10 years experience in developing and implementing effective communications programs, preferably in a healthcare setting.  A proven background in communications planning and creative execution and public relations with a variety of electronic, broadcast and print media, is required. Excellent writing, planning and people and project management skills are necessary.
