Position Summary:

This position is responsible for all local undergrad and graduate Community Relations efforts, with a focus on building relationships and generating positive media coverage for DeVry University/Keller Graduate School of Management in the SoCal Metro.

Job Duties:

*Facilitates value-based relationships with local buisnesses, community and ethnic organizations, high schools, community colleges and government organizations. Serves as a "door opener" and goodwill ambassador to these organizations. *Actively participates in the local area Chamber of Commerce and other profesional, business, educational and governmental organizations as determined by the local marketing plan. *Regularly connects with HS Superintendents/Principals. Participates in HS advisory councils. Oversees HS tech partnerships. *Builds relationships with Community College Presidents. Oversees letters of agreements. *Host tours, grand openings and other special events. *Creates and implements publicity-oriented/media events. Pitches media on story ideas. *Communicates campus events/initiatives to media, community organizations, high schools and community colleges. Consults with marketing manager to execute any advertising in accordance with compliance and marketing standards. *Sponsor for local initiatives to improve/sustain relationships with businesses that facilitate DeVry University's local goals (e.g., graduate employment, internships, local partnerships). *Supports governmental relations efforts at the metro level. *Works with Metro Marketing Manager on the implementation of campus/center-based lead-generation/recruitment events (e.g., lunch and learns, open houses, DeVry Days, etc.). *Generates media coverage for new location launches. Develops and implements CR launch plan in consultation with Metro Marketing Manager and DVU Director of PR. *Is a strong team player/partner with Metro Marketing Manager. *Work with Campus Executive team to assure work is coordinated with campus goals and that other departments (e.g., Academics, Faculty and Career Services) are included in/kept informed of CR initiatives. (Will be a part of the Executive Committee.)

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

Bachelors degree required in a related field. Three to five years business development and strategic marketing or public relations experience required. Must have a basic knowledge and understanding of business development, marketing and public relations disciplines. One to two years of successful marketing work experience preferred. Budget and financial management competency desired. Chamber experience working with educators, high schools and community colleges. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have outstanding public speaking skills.
