Director of Copy

Our client is nearing their 100th year in business.  Their success is built on a simple yet highly effective philosophy: offer customers quality products at affordable prices and provide exceptional customer service.  Through their multi-channel direct marketing strategy they reach and sell women?s, men?s and home fashions.  In a partnership with us, we are recruiting a Director of Copy.  This newly identified position will be situated in their Northwest PA offices.

 

The primary responsibility for this position will be to provide creative copy direction and overview to the Product Writers, Copy Specialists and project teams to ensure that copy across all product lines and across print and web channels support the company Brand strategy.  Additionally, the Director will manage resources and coach, mentor and evaluate the performance of the Product Writers and Copy Specialists.

Additional elements to varying degrees:

? Participate in the development of the company Brand Strategy with Senior Management and may assist in the process of customer research, as required.

? Review advertising trends, consumer surveys, competitor analysis and other data regarding advertising of merchandise.

? Interact with corporate e-commerce team to ensure consistent brand and product messaging across all print and web channels.

? Manage the budget to provide on-going training and career development for Product Writers and Copy Specialists.

? Maintain a strong market presence by attending trade shows and conferences, shopping retail stores and catalogs and working closely with Product line associates.

? Manage a team of 7 direct reports.

 

Ideal Candidate

? Undergraduate degree required, English or acceptable related field.

? 7 years related experience and/or training in the direct marketing field with creative emphasis; catalog heavily preferred with emphasis on apparel and home goods.

? Compelling writing, grammar and punctuation samples to review.

? Demonstrable experiences/techniques to encourage team members to be embrace creative, imaginative and inspired thinking.

? Proven success working with cross-functional teams in the execution of the merchandising strategy and financial objectives.

? High degree of emotional intelligence, flexibility, optimism and self-motivation.  Excellent leadership and communications skills.
