About the Opportunity
Tumbleweed enjoys the enviable position of being a market leader in the security industry. Tumbleweed has a marquee customer base, great products, solid financials, and is one of the only public companies in its space. Despite its strong position, it has a relatively unrecognized brand. You?re going to change that.
The Corporate Marketing Director will be responsible for dramatically increasing Tumbleweed?s awareness & brand equity. This will be a career defining experience. You will launch the company from relative obscurity into a recognizable brand name in the security industry. This is an outstanding opportunity for a truly exceptional individual ? and your results will be handsomely rewarded.
Your responsibilities will span corporate messaging, public relations, advertising, collateral and website. Your purview is global. You will work closely with the CMO on marketing strategy and you will manage a global creative team.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Planning & Reporting
? Planning - Author and execute annual corporate marketing plan, media plan (PR & Advertising) & budget
? Reporting? Report on key marketing metrics: PR, awareness, customer touches, and budget (prevent negative variances);
2. Strategic Messaging- Maintain a thorough and up-to-date understanding of corporate strategies and craft appropriate marketing messages. Take initiative in researching, proposing, and championing new and better ways of communicating messages and brand value. Work with CMO & Director of Product Marketing on optimal positioning of products in the marketplace. Be the recognized expert on all external messaging, and branding.
3. Identity, Branding & Consistency ?Create and maintain identity system, set branding standards, and craft strategy for building brand recognition. Work closely with the product marketing team to insure consistency across products for messaging, look & feel, tone of voice, etc.
4. Awareness Building ? Turn ?Tumbleweed? into a recognizable brand amongst IT buyers. Source & manage agencies (Ad, PR) as appropriate.
? Advertising - Plan and execute extensible advertising programs that build brand awareness while supporting product objectives.
? Public Relations ? Craft & execute strategies for establishing positive buzz & industry thought leadership; Manage analyst & press relation programs and maintain a steady flow of relevant news.
? Newsletters ? Create and manage an ongoing newsletter program making Tumbleweed top-of-mind with our customers & partners
5. Collateral & Website
? Collateral - Create & manage all collateral: sales presentations, product sheets, brochures, case studies, whitepapers
? Sales Extranet ? Create an easy-to-use repository of collateral & training for the sales force
? Website - Make sure that the website is our most effective sales vehicle. Direct design and maintenance of Website and related content and features, ensuring content is optimized for search engines as well as visitors.
6. Management ? manage team of five; work closely with regional marketing teams to ensure global consistency.
Position requirements:
Education/ExperienceMinimum 10 years marketing experience ? ideal candidate would have B2B software marketing experience and traditional consumer brand management experience. Experience at brand name software company highly desirable Past experience marketing $100M+ product lines desirable. MBA from top school
