Purpose

As an Electronic Production Artist, you will integrate text and graphics electronically to produce complete, accurate pages of circulars, catalogs and promotions, meeting deadline requirements. You will be knowledgeable of electronic and conventional print production, including electronic software and hardware, color separations, offset and gravure printing.

See Yourself:

Creating complete advertising pages as specified by creative layout, combining text and graphics on the Macintosh systems, or by conventional means. Constructing, filing, retrieving and correcting ad page files within specified guidelines on an electronic network and producing accurate mock-ups when required.
Constructing advertising templates for circulars, catalogs and promotions. Utilizing the SRDS standards to achieve a specified mechanical for various markets and different manufacturing facilities.
Working closely with the creative staff (internal/external) to achieve their desired results. Maintaining high quality in the page composition area while meeting requirements of production output and deadlines.
Working closely with Database, Typestyling and Imaging Department to meet layout requirements. Having knowledge of half-tone print reproduction and color specifications.
Reviewing paper proof of jobs created on Macintosh. Comparing layouts and proof for accuracy and altering as necessary to achieve accuracy.
Being proficient in Quark XPress and Quark XPress extensions (Cropster, Xpress Image, Xpert Paste) and FlightCheck Collect to produce an accurate final keylined file.
Being proficient in Adobe Illustrator to produce illustration and vector art.
Researching and educating self on new production technologies. Attending relevant trade shows, workshops and seminars as requested by supervisor or as part of your own self-development.
Providing cost-saving alternatives wherever applicable within the department.
Being aware of team members workloads and proactively serving as back-up to work rotation and assignments as needed.
Attending required meetings.
Understanding and working within the Project Management approval system established for all media types.
Statusing bi-weekly with Electronic Production Supervisor and keeping them informed of projects and issues as they arise.
