Faculty Marketing Manager-West Academics

The West Academic Faculty Marketing Manager will provide leadership and expertise in the effective use of marketing strategies to achieve faculty adoptions and recommendations of West products and preference for Westlaw. This responsibility includes supporting the development of business strategies and new products as well as the execution of marketing plans through the management of all available channels.

 

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

 Develop faculty marketing plans, programs and budgets to drive adoptions of West products and TWEN, usage of TWEN and Westlaw, and brand image in the law school market.Establish and manage strategic relationships with associations, faculty and authors.Manage development and execution of marketing strategies and programs, support tools, and faculty communication plans via the selected channels for West Academic.Provide leadership in utilizing CRM and segmentation to increase effectiveness of marketing communications.Support new product concepts by conducting market research and developing comprehensive marketing launch plans.Manage faculty marketing expenses and report on strategic initiatives.Interpret and analyze financial and market trends to ensure effective marketing strategies and programs.Coordinate communication of all channel strategies and programs to appropriate West staff.Analyze and develop procedures to measure and track success of marketing strategies and programs.Present marketing strategies and programs to account managers, colleagues and authors.Coordinate with internal groups to ensure the success of marketing strategies and programs.Perform other related duties as needed.Manage multiple projects simultaneously in highly matrixed organization with skill, attention to detail, tenacity, and a focus on results.Drive results in a team environment, leveraging effective partnerships with publishing, finance, sales channels, and operations.

 



FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (Include any budget responsibility ? expense management or revenue.  No direct budget accountability; although, the consequence of errors (e.g., incentive plan documents, salary range development) can be substantial):

 Responsibility for academic revenue and Westlaw preference goals.Manage faculty marketing budget and expenses.

 



Education B.A. required. Marketing, business or communications majors preferred. JD or MBA strongly preferred.

 

Knowledge and SkillsExcellent project management skills, preferably in planning and conducting marketing strategies and programs.Demonstrated experience in segmented marketing and CRM.Demonstrated expertise in marketing communications, promotions, marketing concepts, and various channel strategies and programs.Demonstrated success in planning, conducting, and implementing marketing strategies and programs.Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills and excellent presentation skills; demonstrated comfort in relationships with management personnel and staff at all levels; strong team orientation.Demonstrated organizational strengths including: flexibility, ability to meet deadlines, ability to work effectively under pressure, ability to make decisions independently, ability to manage and motivate others, and high level of initiative. Willingness to embrace change and test new concepts.Willingness to travel (approx. 10 trips per year)

 

Previous Experience5-7 years business experience in marketing, with an emphasis on CRM and channel management.2 years of demonstrated experience in project management.Experience managing a professional staff.
