Graphic Design and Web Coordinator

Under the direction of the Communications Director, the Graphic Design/Web Coordinator handles all aspects of design and production for print advertisements, collateral materials and the company Web site and employee intranet, with an emphasis on graphic and visual elements.  Contributes original and creative ideas in departmental brainstorm sessions.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 Create innovative, professional-quality graphic elements for print ads on behalf of BCHD?s various departments and services.  All work must follow graphic standards provided by the District.  Position not responsible for writing copy. Update recurring advertisements as directed by Communications Director. Create sophisticated design elements for promotional and other collateral materials, adhering to graphic standards and as directed by Communications Director. Photograph people, events and objects for use in quarterly magazine, Web site and other promotional materials. Interface with media representatives from print newspapers to confirm ad insertions and forward materials electronically. Generate in-house portion of graphic design elements for BCHD?s quarterly magazine. Occasional interface with contracted graphic design firm for production of quarterly magazine. Design and implement graphic/visual content for Web site and Intranet. Update, modify and add to Web site and Intranet. Maintain the Web site and Intranet; interface with Web hosting company.

 MISCELLANEOUS:

 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Able to operate a motor vehicle, have current auto insurance coverage and an acceptable DMV record or access to reliable transportation

 QUALIFICATIONS:

 Bachelor?s Degree and a minimum of two to four years of experience in web design. Requires a strong sense of accountability and good judgment.  Must be familiar with standard practices, concepts and terminology in the fields of graphic and Web design. Must be fully proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, QuarkXpress Mac platform and proficiency in InDesign highly desirable. Attention to detail a must. Position requires strong Web design proficiency in HTML, CSS, Java Script and Dreamweaver and Macromedia Contribute.
