Internal Communications Lead / Manager

Be a part of a critical initiative to optimize customer experience and create business efficiencies. Blue Shield of California's Quote-to-Card (QTC) project involves the universal process that all members (individual and company) go through when they seek a quote to the point they receive a membership card. As the Internal Communications Lead / Manager, you will interact heavily with key leaders of project management, within Blue Shield, who are accountable for initiating change within the organization. Key responsibilities include the following:

Understand QTC program's strategic intentions and efforts, and translate into appropriate audience messages and materials

Support the business needs of Blue Shield leaders by providing marketing communication strategy and coaching for various internal communication channels.

Develop reusable message/content to be used in a variety of communication channels and media

Consult to Project Managers and Program Leadership on communications

Design and execute internal communication plans and programs that support key business initiatives (newsletters; Intranet updates; brown bags, etc.)

Will develop the following:

newsletters
presentations for brown bag, general distribution
Executive level alignment presentations
Intranet site with internal partners
Other related communications

Work collaboratively with internal resources to write, edit, monitor, and maintain relevant intranet content, articles, and internal marketing collateral, ensuring proper positioning of Blue Shield's long-term strategy

Experience in communications related to change management and enterprise-wide process reengineering.

Experience in a Corporate Marketing, Marketing Communications project management, Internal Communications, or Public Relations environment managing projects effectively and working with multiple levels of management and cross-functional teams

Superior written and verbal communication skills, including informational interviewing expertise

Able to understand complex business problems and communicate them in a simple, straight-forward manner

Proficient in building strong client relationships, including those with business leaders and other executives


Preferred Skills:

High level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Adobe, and the Internet, including knowledge of fundamental graphic design concepts

General understanding of the healthcare industry, including competitive products, services, trends, and industry standards

Related experience in Quote-to-Card process including sales, installation and membership, as well as underwriting, highly desired.

Additional Experience Required for Internal Communications Manager:

Ability to interact effectively with people at all levels in an organization.

Ability to translate complex ideas into basic terms.

Attention to detail.

Some management experience preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Communications, English or related field and seven+ years experience in internal communications, employee communication or public relations, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with intranet or web-based communication vehicles.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, survey and web publishing tools.
