Newton-based marketing and communications company seeks in-house graphic designer able to juggle multiple projects and project management responsibilities.

JOB DESCRIPTION
We?re looking for a buttoned-up junior-level Graphic Designer with experience in BOTH print and online mediums to join our team of marketing and publishing professionals. This position provides an ideal opportunity to work with high-profile Fortune 500 clients in the financial and technology sectors. This person should be well-rounded, with experience in client services and project management and a desire to be challenged and take on non-design related responsibilities as well. Our company has a small in-house staff, supported by a large number of freelance writers, so it?s important that every member of the team shares a can-do attitude and an entrepreneurial spirit.

The right person for this job will be a strong team player who makes a personal investment in each program. We need someone who takes ownership and assumes responsibility for the work to be performed, someone who ensures the job is carefully monitored and managed all they way through the process.

The Graphic Designer must be able to juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining an excellent attention to detail. This person should have a professional portfolio, including samples of both print and online/web work and a style that can easily mesh with the ?corporate? needs of out client base. Proficiency in the following desktop publishing programs is required: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and QuarkXPress, as well as knowledge of both PC and MAC platforms, Windows 2000 and Microsoft Office Suite.

Beyond design skills, we are looking for someone with a background in client services or project management. This person should have exceptional communications skills and relate well with all levels of management. Most important is a team player with an enthusiastic attitude, a willingness to learn and the ability to remain calm when unexpected situations arise. A professional demeanor is a must as this person will be trained towards growing and managing successful client relationships. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
? Print and online graphic design projects for finance and technology clients
? Maintaining the company?s website and creating collateral
? Providing client service support to the Director of Publications
? Managing advertiser relationships and collecting advertiser files
? Proofreading and fact-checking
? Artwork research
? On-site press checks at area printers
? Maintaining and cleaning customer databases
? Creating project schedules
? Assisting the entire team with ongoing projects
NECESSARY SKILLS
To best manage this position, we need a high-energy, extremely detail-oriented person who has a positive attitude and an enthusiastic demeanor. They should be a solutions-oriented, self-starter who is able to adjust to the rhythm of the office and its workflow: some days will be calmer while others can be harried. This person should be comfortable working with clients, staff members, vendors, freelancers and whomever the company interfaces with. They should be able to work on tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment. This individual should possess excellent graphic design, interpersonal and communications skills, an exemplary phone manner and strong organizational skills. This job will provide a hands-on opportunity to work with qualified publishing professionals: the experience is generally varied and interesting (but not always). This position is for someone who is eager to learn and not easily discouraged by challenges.
