Lead Contracts & Bids Specialist, Bryn Mawr location

A lead position that performs a variety of functions directly related to the support of all U.S. bids and contracts.

 

Fully qualified in any or all of the following: Special cost bids including: Product Specification, identifies sources for specified and alternate product, and negotiates with suppliers for product, costing and terms.  Answers technical product-related questions.  Will be the “product expert” for entire sales force.  Update alternate supplier and competitive product code databases.  Coordinates communication and processes/procedures with locations, Product Planning and Central Procurement relative to contracts and bids. Researches and prepares analysis as needed.  Responsible for filing systems and developing office procedures for paper flow and retention for both paper and electronic files.  Monitor and improve productivity and quality by guiding and advising other associates.  Will assist in training new associates.  Demonstrates a commitment to Total Quality and the process of continuous improvement, identifying and responding actively and with sensitivity to the needs of all customers and be open and responsive to change. Data will need to be gathered and analyzed to resolve issues as they come up, this position will need to establish analytical processes as needed.  Decision-making concerning day-to-day activities can be accomplished without manager’s approval.  Interacts with internal and external customers on a daily basis.  Information exchanged may range from factual data to information requiring explanation or decisions requiring judgment, tact, or persuasive skill.  Will provide guidance or instructions to other employees in demonstrating how to perform tasks and resolve problems.  Will assist in training new associates.

Initiating Action: Taking prompt action to accomplish objectives; taking action to achieve goals beyond what is required; being proactive.
Work Standards: Setting high standards of performance for self and others; assuming responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks; self-imposing standards of excellence rather than having standards imposed.
Stress Tolerance: Maintaining stable performance under pressure or opposition (such as time pressure, or job ambiguity); handling stress in a manner that is acceptable to others and to the organization.
Motivational Fit: The extent to which job activities and responsibilities, the organization’s mode of operation and values, and the community in which the individual will live and work are consistent with the type of environment that provides personal satisfaction; the degree to which the work itself is personally satisfying.


College degree or equivalent.
PC software skills including Excel, Access & Word.
2-3 years bid and contract experience.
Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the purchasing/contract function.
Product knowledge necessary and is gained through multiple years of exposure to product.
Skill requirements include good organization and planning, problem solving, analytical skills, in-depth product knowledge, attention to detail, research, and excellent written and oral communication.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadline requirements with minimal supervision.
Must be a team player and have a strong desire to support internal/external customers.
Must be open and responsive to change.
Demonstrates the ability to guide, advise and counsel others.
