JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

MEDICAL / SCIENTIFIC WRITER:

 

In this high profile role, the Scientific Writer/Editor acts in both a creative capacity and as a liaison between project manager and scientific communications writer in all editorial capacities. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and slide kits for pharmaceutical industry clients. In addition, the Scientific Writer/Editor will ensure that the highest quality control standards are met with regard to all published documentation within the writing group, e.g., proofing, editing, bluelines, galleys, etc.

 

The Scientific Writer/Editor will create and maintain print and electronic indexes and databases related to all facets of scientific communication within the department. The Scientific Writer/Editor establishes and integrates editorial policies that are consistent with the company?s image, philosophy, business and product marketing strategies and ensures that all published documentation is in accordance with accepted company policies and quality control procedures by establishing and promoting proofing and editing procedures.

 

The Scientific Writer/Editor will interface with strategic communications  managers and scientific communications writers as well as colleagues in account services, and creative services in the process of executing his/her duties.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 Knowledge of medical publishing policies and procedures as well as demonstrated project management skills required, as well as 5 plus years in healthcare communications/publishing industry. Extensive experience in science, engineering, and/or medicine. Knowledge of editorial policies, procedures, and style manuals. A minimum of 2 years medical/scientific writing experienc.Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communications skills. Demonstrated analytical and scientific skills. Knowledge of healthcare industry/previous industry experience and Pharma Guidelines Good project management skills and attention to detail Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, relational database, project management, and graphics software for PC and MAC platforms. Four year college education with an emphasis in a scientific discipline, journalism,communications, or English
