Responsible for creating, scheduling, testing, analyzing, refining, and implementing direct mail and related marketing programs in order to increase traffic and sales in stores and markets chainwide; Responsible for procuring outside vendors for data processing, list and mailing services that are not done within the Company; Responsible for developing, evaluating, and utilizing any and all relationships, technologies, and services that enhance and improve direct marketing efforts.

Essential Skills:
Manages all aspects of a weekly new store direct mail program that currently mails 1,750,000 pieces annually, affecting all new stores; Manages all aspects of a monthly direct mail program designed to increase traffic and sales in underperforming stores as well as stores with special needs (competitor closings, new health plan,etc.); Determines and manages a direct marketing budget and ensures that direct marketing programs stay within this budget; Adapts direct marketing programs for individual stores and markets based on their unique needs and situations. Determines and recommends marketing strategies, creative formats, mailing areas, target lists, and offers. Gathers and manages costs; Gathers, analyzes, and reports results of direct marketing projects on a store-by-store and projectby- project basis; Creates and maintains electronic databases of direct marketing project details and results; Oversees a promotional gift card program that includes card design, purchasing, and
communicating with gift card vendor to ensure that all technical attributes are correctly designed
and programmed; Implements and manages a gift card fulfillment program using an outside vendor to archive and deliver promotional gift cards to stores in the grand opening circular program; Evaluates and selects outside service vendors based on cost, service level, compatibility, technical abilities; Oversees the work of outside service vendors to ensure that project goals, schedules, and costs are being met according to predetermined criteria; Accepts, reviews, and approves all invoicing from outside vendors, ensuring that pricing is accurate and appropriate; Evaluates and approves final creative proofs from outside vendors; Maintains an ongoing electronic budgetary system designed to keep a tally of expenditures for direct marketing. This system helps to compare costs between vendors and facilitates back-end analysis of projects based on cost; Oversees the development and implementation of new computer systems that help integrate, organize, and analyze direct marketing information; Develops and maintains a working knowledge of mapping software that is used to determine mailing areas and demographic information that may help determine mailing strategies; Organizes tests of new direct mail programs and offers and determines from the results whether the tests should be broadened in scope or become a rollout program; Develops offers for use in direct marketing projects. Works with Purchasing, Marketing Systems, outside vendors, legal department, and Advertising personnel to create offers and ensure that they will operate correctly and effectively in store; Ensures that all direct marketing programs and offers meet with Company policies and federal and state laws regarding advertising and promotional offers; Oversees the work of Advertising writers and artists when creating direct marking programs; Initiates creative ideas for direct marketing projects and develop rough sketches, copy, and
instructions to give to creative personnel as project guidelines; Manages a bank account with an outside bank to fund a direct marketing offer; Communicates regularly with Store Operations personnel to gather information and strategize
marketing projects; Manages the advertising efforts for Walgreens RxPress stores and Walgreens Pharmacy only stores in Los Angeles; Oversees a program designed to mail promotional offers to Walgreens store employees in order to better inform them of new products; Develops and maintains a knowledge of postal regulations, pricing, routing, etc.; Works with the Information Technology Department and WHS to define and request pharmacy database information.
Qualifications:
BS/BA Degree required. Experience with direct mail marketing required; Healthcare marketing experience preferred; Experience working with outside vendors.
