Market Development Manager/Chemicals

MeadWestvaco Specialty Chemicals is a dynamic business that delivers value to customers around the world through distinctive chemical products and technologies. Specialty Chemicals is the world leader in production of activated carbon used in emission control systems for automobiles and trucks. The division is also a global leader in the production of emulsifiers used in asphalt paving. Other products are used in printing inks, dyestuffs, agrichemicals, rubber, protective coatings, oil drilling, paper manufacturing, cement, pollution control and many other applications.

Currently, we have an immediate need in our Specialty Chemicals group for a Marketing Development Manager.? This position will be located in Charleston, SC.

JOB SUMMARY:?
This position oversees market development projects for the Business Development Group.? Areas of responsibility include preliminary market assessments and value propositions for projects identified by the Business Development Group and the division.? Market Development Manager?s role is to obtain the market and customer information necessary to help move projects from Phase I ? Concept Identification or Project Request, through to Phase III- Business Development/ Commercialization.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:?
??Lead and manage market research projects and associated resources.
??Conduct both primary and secondary market research in conjunction with the Business Development Directors.
??Conduct competitive and technology assessments.
??Provide market information to assist the evaluation of initiatives with respect to established Business development criteria.
??Create Preliminary Market Assessment & Value Propositions for assigned projects.
??Evaluate business opportunities and fit with the Division?s strategic processes.
??Develop and maintain Cash Flow Models for selected projects.
??Develop go-to-market strategy for commercialization.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
??Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Business or Marketing.
??7-10 years experience in market research and customer analysis. Chemistry industry experience strongly preferred.
??Knowledge of market development process as well as financial analysis skills.?
??Proficient in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and data collection techniques.?
??Ability to manage projects and associated resources as well as interact with potential customers.?
??Strong communication, written skills, as well as project management skills. Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail.?
??Ability to work effectively with all levels within the organization. Must be able to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
??20-30% travel required.
