PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
The Marketer is responsible for creating, implementing, and measuring a marketing strategy aimed at improving revenues and customer retention from the Intellectual Property product line, across all market segments and all media.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
1. Develop and implement campaigns, promotions, incentives and communications designed to achieve short and long term
growth targets. These
activities will be coordinated across the market segments, Content Operations, SAM and sister companies, as appropriate.
2. Coordinate sales pilots, product launches and re-launches.
3. Manage West participation at all IP-related trade shows, and IP activities for National Sales Meeting.
4. Maintain internal and customer-facing IP-related web sites, insuring accuracy, currentness, and regular content changes.
5. Manage all IP-related collateral, insuring accuracy and currentness.
6. Measure and analyze campaigns, growth trends, profitability of customers and initiatives, by market segment, by product, by
media, and make
recommendations for action based on the analysis.
7. Monitor competitive activity in the IP practice area
8. Actively participate in strategic planning for the IP and Entertainment Law practice areas.
9. Coordinate internal and sales rep training on products and on customer-facing marketing campaigns.
10. Create and manage to the IP marketing budget.
11. Drive results in a team environment, leveraging effective partnerships with finance, other strategic marketing groups, sales
channels, marketing
services, business systems, and sister companies.
12. Other tasks as directed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Does not directly supervise others, but may participate in or lead interdepartmental task groups. Works closely with PAMD and other West, Thomson Scientific, and Thomson CompuMark marketing staff to guide effectiveness and accuracy of marketing campaigns and other marketing efforts. Some travel is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
? BA/BS, preferably in business or marketing; MBA or JD a plus
? 2 to 5 years of related experience preferred
? Direct experience in the legal field or information industry a plus
? Must possess an ability to think at a strategic level as well as analyze details
? Must demonstrate ability to deliver consistent messages and marketing themes to the organization and to our customers to
maximize their
effectiveness.
? Must be action-oriented individual.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
? Successful experience working in cross-functional teams
? Project management skills
? PowerPoint and Excel experience, with knowledge of statistical analysis
? Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including ability to create presentations and present a variety of information
to small and large
groups, both internal and external to the company
? Ability to continually analyze and anticipate customer needs, competitive actions and business trends
