I. Overview
Humana's Commercial Marketing Strategy team is charged with driving the strategy behind marketing efforts throughout Humana's primary product lines, including ASO/National Accounts, Mid-Market accounts, Small Group, Dental, Life, Humana One, and Senior products. Strategies are initiated that deliver Guidance to consumers through effective, efficient marketing strategies.
Within the Corporate Marketing department, the Strategy team is responsible for:
Understanding the Humana business model and industry
Leading others in the understanding and integration of that business model
Providing context for marketing initiatives, based on overall Humana business and marketing strategies
Leading the annual planning process
Developing overarching marketing strategies; advocating those strategies within marketing and to other departments within Humana
Prioritizing key department imperatives
Developing strategic solutions for marketing initiatives, together with business owners
The Marketing Senior Consultant, Strategy is responsible for supporting the company's business strategies and market growth through developing and leading the development of marketing strategies for both direct to consumer and B2B channels. The Senior Consultant will manage a small team which will work cross-functionally with other Marketing team members and internal departments to develop strong, executable strategies which deliver "Guidance when you need it most" to Humana's brokers, customers and consumers. The Senior Consultant will also act as business owner of one or more key marketing initiatives, with responsibility for that initiative from creation to implementation and review.
KEY OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES:
Lead successful development and implementation of a cohesive marketing and business strategy:
Contribute to development of 1-3 year industry vision and Humana marketing strategy
Lead partnerships between marketing and internal clients to identify business opportunities or issues and develop initiatives for addressing those needs
Provide strategic input and guidance for key initiatives across multiple communication channels
Analyze internal client requests, identify growing needs and proactively provide solutions
Develop working knowledge of best practices for marketing within the health insurance industry
Partner with insights team, business owners, and other departments to access current research results or create new research projects around marketing effectiveness
Gather best practices external to Humana and healthcare industry as benchmarks and sources of continuous improvement
Educate internal clients on best use of marketing strategies and expected results from initiatives; proactively reach out to other departments as a marketing strategy best-practice resource
Design individual and team development plan; ensure training and continued education; develop team of successful marketing strategists

People development/management skills; ability to coach, educate and motivate team members
Customer service or agency mentality: Drive to attract clients and deliver results
Demonstrated understanding of the marketing mix and me
