Media Associate

Job Description:
Media Associate is the entry-level position for Starcom's media professionals. Starcom's media associates complete an in-depth and highly-regarded training program and continue their professional development by gaining experience and skills via a series of assignments in strategy, investment and specialty groups.



Associates in strategy groups create and present media plans to clients. They gather and analyze marketing data to determine the client's advertising and media needs, analyze media alternatives and make recommendations on effective budget allocation. Plans typically include analysis and recommendations on targeting, geography, scheduling, support level and budget.



Associates in investment groups invest client budgets with media vendors in the most effective and efficient way. They develop good predictions of audiences to each medium, utilizing industry data sources and Starcom systems. They must be skilled at negotiating prices and terms with each vendor, where orders are eventually placed, often in millions of dollars. Investment associates also monitor the purchase to ensure that all ads run as ordered, deliver audiences as promised, and are billed and paid correctly.



Associates in specialty groups have responsibilities similar to those of both strategy and investment groups, but these associates are focused on one medium or type of advertising, which may be: multicultural media, Internet marketing, out-of-home marketing, media research, or entertainment marketing.



Success in all of these groups requires deep analytical skills, math proficiency, good consumer understanding, creativity, negotiation skills and attention to detail.



Bachelor's degree required, preferably advertising, communication, marketing or business majors.
