Position Description

Responsible for reviewing documents for errors in grammar, punctuation, syntax, and spelling. Ensures readability, style and agreement with editorial policy. Edits text to improve clarity or delete incorrect or unnecessary structural passages. Also, reviews all text on artwork including hand lettered text, figure and table captions and axes. Makes certain all corrections have been made during document cycling, amends and checks proofs on visual display terminals and reads transcripts or proof type setup to detect and mark any grammatical, typographical, or compositional errors.

 

Job Requirements

B.S. degree, (Master's preferred) with specialization in writing and/or literature. 4+ years experience in the medical or pharmaceutical industry. Knowledge of proofreading marks, medical copy and grammatical standards. Strong understanding of English grammar, style and usage as well as an understanding of medical terminology. Ability to work under significant time constraints. Knowledge of AMA, Chicago, CBE and AP Style highly preferred.
