Director of New Business Development

 

It is the job of the New Business Development Director to manage the New Business Development team and is responsible for generating a large quantity of new business for the agency.  The New Business Development Director should be a leader who has a great personality, is charismatic, has excellent presentation skills, and is presentable.  He/she should have an entrepreneurial spirit, as cinquino+co. is a fast growing agency, with which the New Business Development Director will assist in taking to new heights.  He/she manages the Business Development Manager who cold calls leads and prospects and the Marketing Strategist who provides the research for prospective clients.

 

The New Business Development Director should have at minimum a bachelor?s degree in Business or Marketing or similar discipline, and at least five years of marketing experience plus at least 3 years of agency experience.  Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills are important, as are well-developed project management and organizational skills. This person should be capable of managing several projects at one time.

 

Duties includeLeads the development and maintenance of the agency new business program.

 Attends and spearheads all prospect meetings.

 Collects, analyzes and interprets data on present and prospective new business projects.

 Maintains personal contact by mail/phone/e-mail with new business database contacts, providing them with information, agency news, industry news and items of general interest.

 Directs the new business development team in their activities; list building, making new business contacts, preparing materials, gathering ?intelligent? research, planning strategies and drafting proposals.

 Keeps the agency president up-to-date on pipeline status and analyzes how to continue to move prospects along the pipeline.

 Develops, executes and maintains new business strategies.

 Constantly analyzes new business program effectiveness and recommends improvements.

 Helps agency identify strategic partnership development.

 Serves as a primary source for the community and the media for information and news about the agency and its activities.

 Assists the public relations effort in obtaining feature stories about the agency and its personnel in appropriate media; assists in writing features and press releases.

 Attends industry trade shows and demonstrations with other agency directors to stay current on industry and technological innovations and trends.

 Communicates effectively in all aspects of the role.

 Effectively presents the agency to prospects in front of small and large audiences and opportunities.

 Uses ?client notebooks?/contact files to keep detailed documentation of all contacts for each prospect, and all research/reports/sales information used or created for use in selling to each prospect.

 Keeps timely contact with prospects through weekly, systematic mailings, phone calls, appointments and correspondence.

 Keeps thorough records on all prospects so others can handle NBS responsibilities during an absence.

 Maintains New Business Database that:  identifies target prospects; records product/market information about the prospect; tracks all contacts with the prospect including mailings, calls, appointments, and correspondence.

 In preparation for future growth, creates refines, and documents the entire sales system in a manner that will easily allow training of another New Business Person.  Includes each minute process including such things as scripting of sales calls/meetings, proper attire, software requirements, presentation strategies, etc.

 Meets with the agency Account Service team, including President, to keep them informed of new business opportunities gained from New Business efforts; transfers prospect contact to President/Account Service team when agency is ready to ?go in.?

 Adds input to marketing plans/proposals when prospect is elevated to account status; shares all available research and industry information for this purpose.

 

Compensation

This position reports directly to the President. Compensation includes up to a $90,000 salary for very qualified individuals and 100% of employee-only medical benefits.
