Online Advertising Coordinator/Graphic Design Specialist


Editorial Projects in Education, Inc., publisher of the award-winning Education Week, Teacher Magazine and edweek.org has an exceptional opportunity at our Bethesda, MD office for an Online Advertising Coordinator/ Graphic Design Specialist.

This is a key position that reports directly to the Production Manager. The perfect candidate will have some online ad trafficking experience (although we will consider training the right person) and will also want to use their design skills to manage and/or create finished art and interactive projects. You will thrive here if you like:

? Having responsibility for online ad trafficking, where you will work with sales staff and external advertising clients to receive and schedule client-supplied ads and use ad delivery software (we use DoubleClick) to schedule ads
? Working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with external advertising clients to receive and pre-flight client-supplied advertising materials
? Helping with final pre-flighting/prepress analysis of pages produced by publication art and editorial staffs to ensure the accuracy of final files against printed proofs and that materials meet technical file requirements
? Working collaboratively with sales/marketing teams to design and create online and print marketing and communications materials, including marketing collateral, direct mail components, advertisements, business forms, stationary, business cards, etc.

Some of the skills and qualities necessary to be a star performer:
? Hold a bachelor?s degree or greater with at least 1-3 years related experience
? Special interest in online advertising from a creative and production perspective
? Passion for technology
? Enjoy graphic design work
? Like being part of a small production team that works with many parts of the organization
? Enjoy interacting with both external clients and with internal team members such as sales staff and editors
? Be a detail-oriented multi-tasker who is deadline-focused and organized

Technical skills required:
* Expert knowledge of:
* QuarkXpress 5/6
* Adobe Acrobat (PDF), Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
* Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
* Working knowledge of the following software/technologies:
* Macromedia Flash (or Rich Media design/creation)
* Macromedia Dreamweaver (or HTML layout/design)
* Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
* Offset/Web Print Production Techniques
* Other potentially helpful technical experience:
* Online ad delivery applications such as DoubleClick
* Advertising management order entry systems
