PRODUCT AND PACKAGING DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Mizkan Americas, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of vinegars, mustards, cooking wines, Asian sauces and dressings, and a variety of other liquid condiments.  We offer a broad array of branded and private label products and service customers in the Retail, Foodservice, and Industrial trade classes from multiple production facilities located throughout the United States.  Mizkan Americas, Inc. is privately held by the Mizkan Group Corporation, which is one of the most well respected food companies in Japan and the largest producer of vinegar in the world. 

 

We are currently searching for a Product and Packing Development Manager to perform functions to manage the development of new products, line extensions, and packaging projects.  This position has no direct reports.

 

Major responsibilities are as follows:

 Review or submit proper forms to begin a new product, line extension or packaging project.Manage the project and timelines for new products or new brands.Manage the project and timelines for private brand new products.Manage the project and timeline for creating new packages or changing existing packaging.Manage the project and timelines on cost reductions for branded or private brand products. Manage the project and timelines for branded and private brand label changes.Manage the project and timelines for corporate identity projects.Coordinate the activities, actions, and communication between all functional areas during each project.Work closely with purchasing to research & recommend suppliers for development projects.Set and facilitate periodic meetings for each project, the timing for meetings dependent on the complexity of the project.Provide status reports on a regular basis for each project.Set up and maintain detailed files on each project from beginning of project through project completion.Actively participate as a member of the Mizkan Americas New Product Development Team.Work with various functional areas to source, research and recommend co-packers when needed.

 

The ideal candidate will have 2 ? 3 years of product and packaging development experience within a sales/marketing environment, preferably within the food industry.  Must be results oriented and have strong organizational skills, as well as possess demonstrated ability in managing multiple projects within a specified budget and timeline.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.  Bachelor?s Degree in Marketing or Business Administration is required.  Computer literacy is required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project is preferred.)  Some travel to vendors and Mizkan manufacturing facilities is required.  No relocation assistance is available.
