Product Director, Wound Closure

Overview:


Working for Angiotech?s Surgical Specialties (SSC) division, this role will evaluate the current and future wound closure marketplace, and make recommendations to senior management on market segments and product lines.


The Product Director will formulate and implement Marketing strategies and programs (U.S. and International) for all branded wound closure products, and ensure they are consistent with the corporate mission statement.


Responsibilities:


Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, this role?s responsibilities include:
Develops and coordinates marketing strategies, advertising and promotional programs in support of the sales organization to achieve or exceed sales and profit objectives for SSC?s branded wound closure products.
Develops and maintains a product training program for all sales personnel, including our distributor partners. Provides competitive, technical and/or product related support for sales representatives, distributors and end-users.
Recommends and assists with R&D in the development of new and improved products.
Coordinates field testing of new products for product evaluation.
Develops and maintains information on competitive products and programs including:
Cross-reference lists of competitive products.
Competitive product literature and catalogs.
Comparative data on competitive products.
Samples of competitive products.
Assists in the development and interpretation of monthly reports for products; their usage, and specific trends, and any recommendations for deletion, additions, changes and or improvements.
Provides marketing input to product forecasting. Provides direction on priorities to the Forecast Analysts.
Assists sales and marketing operations and marketing communications management to establish annual marketing budget and appropriate mix of promotional activities (e.g. conventions, advertising, direct mail) to support sales efforts.
Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of promotional activities. Recommends changes for improved cost effectiveness.
Maintains regular contact with Regional and International Sales Managers, sales representatives, distributors and key customers.
Develops and maintains relationships with surgeons, in various specialties to facilitate product development and evaluation.
Develops, maintains, and facilitates support for the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB). Coordinates two annual meetings with the SAB panel for discussion of relevant topics to include new product development, and new surgical techniques.


Qualifications:


Successful candidates must have:
Undergraduate degree in business or marketing (B.S. or B.A.) or equivalent; additional experience or education in a medical specialty or related background. MBA in marketing preferred.
Three to five years recent experience in suture and/or wound closure marketing.
Must have a medical device background, and work related job history.
