Product Manager - Mobility Systems

Hand Held Products is a global leader in image-based data collection, offering the industry's most complete and affordable line of image-based hand held bar code scanners, mobile computers and retail peripherals. As Product Manager you will have responsibility for mobile product solutions delivered to our customers.

Primary responsibilities will include the analysis and compilation of market needs and the design of complete customer solutions to fill those needs utilizing existing and leading-edge technologies. You will develop and maintain business plans for development projects as part of the Marketing Requirement process. You will also work closely with the Director of Product Marketing to specify, clarify, realize and promote new portable products and systems to meet the strategic goals of the company. Additional responsibilities include; the development of features and options matrices, pricing and competitive matrices used for Product Launch documents for Sales and the reseller channel. Assisting in the training of field sales and systems teams in selling, installation and positioning of products. Creating and maintaining relationships with OEM/ODM vendors and acts as the primary product technical interface to other areas of the company. You will develop business relationships with key solution providers. Represent corporate positions in industry groups, trade shows, user groups and other speaking opportunities. Author white papers on technologies and solutions, providing competitor comparison-contrasts as necessary in the target market.

Must have a thorough knowledge of self-service, in store marketing and/or kiosk based solutions and application. Familiarity with the marketing of kiosk terminals is a must. Working experience in the automated data collection industry with emphasis on portable data collection terminals is desired. Knowledge of and experience with competitive products, marketing strategies, pricing and performance are a must. Experience in working closely and comfortably with Sales staff, horizontal and vertical resellers and end-users required, particularly providing knowledge of competitor product and/or system limitations. Must be familiar with ancillary aspects of the ?mini?-kiosk operating and use case environment, especially with regard to self-service and in store marketing applications. Must have the ability, experience and confidence to visit customer facilities, identify system requirements and recommend complete solutions to solve customer application problems.


BA/BS in Marketing or Business, or BS in engineering or related degree, with 3-5 years of experience. MBA preferred with strong technical and product applications knowledge.This position requires effective communication within technical and non-technical environments. Candidate must be a team player, hands-on, detail-oriented, have good prioritization skills, and be comfortable with making assertive decisions. Must be able to follow and explain technology developments. Interpersonal skills and ability to negotiate are a must for this position. Some travel required - potentially 30% of the time. Presentations skills in front of Sales teams and customers required. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint required.
