The manager of public affairs is responsible for developing environmental compliance public policy portfolio, as well as direct lobbying in Midwestern states on numerous issues.

This position is based in Chicago and reports to QTG Government Affairs anchor at Quaker Plaza. Emphasis is on environmental -recycling-, health and nutrition and tax issues. Process knowledge and experience in government/public affairs is a must. Knowledge of environmental compliance issues for manufacturing -food- companies helpful. Candidates must be willing to travel approximately 50 percent of the time.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Environmental Compliance - Candidate to develop and manage environmental public policy regarding compliance. Working closely with Operations, Procurement, Innovation departments, as well as new Sustainability Task Force to lead public policy engagement on environmental issues facing company - including water, recycling, manufacturing processes. Provide support for Government Affairs team and company on these issues.

State Affairs - Candidate is responsible for protecting the company from government action which would restrict operations or erode profitability. Working closely with manufacturing operations and bottler franchisees in Midwestern states, representing company with state coalitions/associations. Candidate must be able to prioritize issues, including recycling, health and wellness and tax and work independently.

Additional Public Policy Support -Beyond environment, candidate will be expected to support Government Affairs leadership on researching a variety of public policy issues via internet and other technological resources. Provide local support for Quaker Foods division development of public policy initiatives.

Ideal candidate should have a four-year degree in a related field - political science, communications, environmental management, etc. Five to ten years of experience in public affairs -government/association office-and a working knowledge of environmental issues. Corporate experience is a plus but not required.
