Brief Overview

The Public and Media Relations Account Supervisor is the day-to-day supervisor for three senior account executives and the person responsible for creating the type of media strategies that result in frequent coverage at the local, regional, and national levels.  This position is responsible for working with the 3 - 4 person account team to convey appropriate messages in response to press inquiries, and for developing pitch ideas that translate into stories that build and strengthen our clienteles' reputation.  The Public and Media Relations Account Supervisor is responsible for strategizing, developing and implementing pro-active plans, web & broadcast placements at all coverage levels.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Program Management - Works with account team to develop and maintain contacts with local, state, national and trade media.  Pitching and garnering coverage on a daily/weekly basis in top media markets/broadcast and print outlets.  Organizes and operates a system for identifying story opportunities appropriate for media outlets.  Oversees tracking reports on news coverage.

 

2. Program Management - News Events: Directs and edits news releases from account team.  Helps coordinate news conferences and other events and material needed to secure coverage for our clientele.

 

3. Account Management - Clients: Develops and nurtures excellent relationships with executives in our clients' firms to collaborate on public relations opportunities with account team.  Creates strategies to successfully showcase and enhance our clienteles' reputations.  Renders support and direction to the account team on a daily basis.  Assists in operational troubleshooting.

 

4. Supervision: Provides supervision, direction and support to the account executives.

 

5. Reporting: Designs, develops, and formats project status reports for distribution to clients and agency president.  Assists with the usage of information/performance results and media tracking/valuation.

 

Education and Experience Requirements

Minimum 5 years experience in a public relations agency.

Minimum 2 years supervisory experience.

Bachelors degree required in comparable field of study.
