Overall scope of position

The Regional Development Manager (RDM) is responsible for the overall sales growth and profitability of a designated region on the West coast covering 9 states.  This position will require travel and be based in the Los Angeles area. He/she will demonstrate an uncanny ability to be resourceful and work in a fast paced environment with little supervision within a home office environment. Be a TEAM player, understanding that our success is driven by commitment to others, adaptation to a fun yet results oriented culture, should have a thorough knowledge of the sales process, relationship development, motivating and training others and closely monitoring and seeking efficiencies as it relates to each step. Foodservice experience is a plus.

The RDM will develop and support a team of indirect sales professionals within assigned region (direct and indirect). He/she will coach, motivate, establish goals and ensure a high level of performance. The RDM must have the ability to lead and train by demonstrating a positive impact during customer meetings.

RDM must have ongoing education of products and services. RDM will be a liaison to internal corporate departments, providing continuous updates regarding new activity, customer transitions and various service issues. All activity must be captured in a sales database in a timely manner. RDM will also understand competitors and document certain market conditions that pose a threat to existing sales growth.

 

Immediate dav-to-dav responsibilities

Work very closely with large clients in various industries, training and supporting their sales staff and regularly meeting with management. Must also establish in depth understanding of multiple service partners and be able to speak knowledgeably about service partners and their/our processes. Will also develop daily communications with the service partners located within assigned region.

Functionally, the RDM will actively promote, train and market our services in a professional, educated manner. He/she will develop and maintain scorekeeping tools that monitor weekly activity, report weekly results to the executive team and company wide meetings; proactively develop sales and service solutions by actively listening to the customer and vendor community. Must be comfortable in working with Senior Level decision makers and have the ability to present in front of groups. Determining needs and problem solving are key ingredients to success. Must also initiate prospecting methods and manage indirect sales channels; lead and build strong rapport with service partners; develop honest, trustworthy relationships; have an appetite for growth and sense of urgency to get results. Written communication, development of best practices and tactical implementation are vital success factors.
