ABOUT THE JOB 

Edelman seeks a Senior Account Executive in the Chicago office.   

 

QUALIFICATIONS: A senior account executive must have a comprehensive level of understanding of the accounts s/he works on - their business, products, markets, personnel, outside influencers, etc. - and succinctly convey this knowledge to the media and account team members. S/he must also have a solid grasp of all traditional public relations tools, and be able to recommend a variety of strategies and tactics to his/her clients. S/he must be able to work effectively and provide sound counsel with lower levels of client contacts. The senior account executive should have between three and six years of experience and a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.


 

RESPONSIBILITIES:Day-to-day account work, and supervision of account work performed by account executives, assistant account executives and interns. Manage up to Account Supervisor and proactively leads daily program pieces. Day-to-day responsibilities include: build relationships with client contacts and provide proactive client counsel; understand competitive landscape and how it impacts clients; manage multiple projects for multiple clients from concept to completion on time and on budget; accurately estimate expenses and time allotment for tasks; proactively manage client correspondence (i.e. daily updates, activity reports, etc.); participate in client presentations; develop and manage product-focused media relations programs including maintaining quality programs with trade, business and vertical press and sustain key editorial contacts; develop the strategy for and implement press tours; manage and staff press activities at trade shows; understand marketing and sales issues and strategies impacting client; plan and implement press conferences, seminars, speaker's bureau, and other special events; counsel client on media briefings, able to provide real-time, valuable feedback/counsel; brief media prior to meetings and moderate media interviews, editorial tours, etc.; stay abreast of industry trends and client developments; maintain national media contracts; AP style master; research, interview, write and edit news release, corporate and product backgrounders, contributed articles, corporate strategy news releases (mergers and acquisitions, key executive hires, financial and earnings, reorganizations) and various other promo kit pieces; craft and develop newsworthy pitches; draft complex client correspondence; develop key messages in keeping with clients' objectives; dolid understanding of key client information including general business strategy, industry issues, products and services offered, key customers and competitors in the marketplace; effective project management working closely with account executive, assistant account executive and interns; solid understanding of 'big picture' client program; maintain awareness of future client events and activities and how they relate to overall objective/target; participate in brainstorms; conduct VNR/B-roll edits; effectively work within account budget parameters and deadlines; understand and participate in agency billing and invoicing procedure; input time and expenses accurately and in a timely manner; maintain detailed knowledge of expenses, working knowledge of over servicing and profitability; assist with review of new business; participate in drafting new business presentations; assist in recruiting, interviewing and selecting Edelman personnel; contribute to performance appraisal process for peers and managers; coach and supervise junior employees.
