Senior Interaction Designer - Job 35

Shutterfly is looking for a Senior Interaction Designer who has a passion for designing easy-to-use, consumer-friendly desktop software products for the digital photography market. You are a natural champion for the user?s experience and believe that people should be able to just use products, not have to learn them.

 

Responsibilities:Define the user experience for new products and features that meet the needs of the mainstream consumer and adhere to Shutterfly brand conventions and design principles Create and maintain detailed design and functional documents (storyboards, workflows, mockups, prototypes, specifications) that effectively communicate the information and interaction design for visual design, content and technical development Gather and analyze user needs and goals, develop user profiles and personas, analyze tasks, collaborate with product marketing to identify business and functional requirements Plan and conduct usability tests, evaluate results and provide recommendations for improvements throughout the product development cycle Collaborate tightly with engineering, visual design and product marketing teams and coordinate internal UI review processes

 

Qualifications:5+ years of practical experience in designing user-centric, consumer-oriented Windows desktop software interfaces Solid understanding of the fundamentals of user interface design; have experience working through the entire product life cycle, and are experienced with user-centered design methods Knowledgeable of best practices in Windows desktop software UI design and the benefits and constraints of both current and future Windows UI/graphics presentation technologies Proficiency with UI documentation and prototyping tools including PhotoShop, Illustrator, PowerPoint, Acrobat, and Flash Good understanding of benefits and constraints of current Internet technologies and familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and DHTML is a very strong plus Excellent communication and personal skills: ability to effectively listen to, explain, persuade, and negotiate with members of other functional groups in a project team Ability to assess, prioritize, and recommend trade-offs between business, user and technical requirements and constraints. Desire and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growing, dynamic environment. Degree in human-computer interaction or related design fields (BS or MS in HCI desirable
