Senior Media Relations Coordinator

Develops and implements proactive media relations strategies for The Methodist Hospital System, with an emphasis on The Methodist Hospital to reach local, regional, state and national media. Responsible for promoting The Methodist Hospital nationally through story placements in print and electronic media. Requires strong relationships with external media and internal customers. Serves as spokesperson when necessary. Responsible for writing press releases to promote the hospital and System as well as writing for internal publications when appropriate. Responds to media inquiries and handles all aspects of media coordination, including participating in the on-call rotation. Requires a bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations with at least 10 years experience. Requires excellent oral and written communications skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Requires bachelor's degree in journalism or public relations with minimum 10 years experience. Employment as a journalist preferred.
' Requires excellent written and oral communications.
' Requires excellent interpersonal relationships with key clients, internally and externally.
' Word processing and e-mail skills required.
