Senior Press Relations Manager

The Senior Press Relations Manager will lead the strategic press efforts for Sorenson Communications working with senior management, deaf and hard-of-hearing organizations, consumer policy groups, and media. This person will be responsible for developing the press and community relations plans, detailed tactics, specific messaging, budgets, and measurable metrics to support the communication goals of Sorenson Communications.  The manager will work along-side with the Marketing Communications team to ensure consistency in messaging and branding.

 



Location

Position based in Salt Lake City, Utah.  However, position requires monthly travel to corporate and regional events

 



ResponsibilitiesWorks with the Vice President of Marketing to plan and create all press plans, tactics, messaging, budgets, and measurable metrics Manages the implementation of the company?s press tactics and events (i.e. open houses, product and service demo events, and media events)Produces detailed reports to determine success/failure/ROI of all press campaigns and tacticsOversees the writing, editing, and production of all press communications materials including press kits, press briefs, press releases, the online press room, and the company newsletter (Sorenson VRS Messenger)Works well within a cross-functional structure including senior management, Marketing, Sales, and Community RelationsAbility to work with and without direct supervision Experience handling multiple deadlines and managing projects in a high pressure environment

QualificationsSelf-starter with exceptional organizational skills and strong project management skills Ability to prioritize project load and to devote attention to critical detailsKeen sensitivity to the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities and the communication needs for all press-related eventsStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate corporate objectives into easy to understand messagingExperience acting as a company?s spokesperson, pitching media, and monitoring placementPositive engaging personality that commands respect of senior management, key option leaders, and media alikeAt minimum of seven years experience in press relations with either a company, a PR agency, or a combination of bothMust be a team player and work well in a deadline-driven environment Proficient in MS Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and ExcelBachelors degree required in either Press/Media Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing, Mass Communications or related fieldMasters degree strongly preferred
