JOB SUMMARY:  

 

Design and develop product and product lines that meet the needs and requirements of our key clients. Monitor and analyze related trends and developments within the industry and their respective channels of distribution. Manage the overall process from concept through production to ensure that products conform to specifications and are produced and delivered on schedule.  The position will report to the Director of Product Development & Design and has no direct reports, but does give direction to designers and vendors in the design and production of product.





RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

? Identify, design, develop, produce and price the product and product lines within the specified channel(s) of distribution.

? Work with and direct designers both internal and external, in creating and designing products and product lines.

? Manage the overall process from concept through production and delivery.

? Work with the Sales and Customers in the design and development of products and related lines, changes to existing products and product lines to meet their needs and requirements.

? Review products annually or as may be needed, recommending changes, new products and/or discontinuing other products.

? Work with Inventory to ensure that proper levels are maintained at all times.

? Prepare spring, fall, seasonal, and promotional plans by account and channel(s) of distribution.

? Review, negotiate and resolve issues, which may arise with vendor contracts, agreements and throughout the process.

? Prepare cost estimates, projections and fact sheets.

? Monitor vendors and vendor outlets, making recommendations for change and vendor utilization.

? Define markets, monitor and analyze trends and developments within their channels and related industry to ensure products and product lines maintain a competitive posture.

? Prepare and present related management reports, materials and analysis.

? Assist with projects as may be needed.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

? A degree in a related field is preferred, such as Marketing, Business, Design, Art or Engineering.

? A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in product design or development, in a related industry (i.e., picture frames, table-top,  and home d?cor).

? Excellent communication, organization, analysis and PC/systems skills are required.

? Ability to work extensively with external contacts, vendors and customers and work with senior management and cross-functionally within the Business Unit.

? Experience working with large Retail clients.

? Ability to travel overseas to meet and work with vendors in the design and production of products.

? Ability to handle multiple projects at one time. The position is subject to working under pressure to meet the numerous deadlines, some of which may be fairly aggressive.

? Ability to perform some heavy lifting of product.
