Job Description: SENIOR PUBLIC RELATIONS BRAND MANAGER
JCPENNEY HEADQUARTERS - PLANO, TEXAS
JOB DESCRIPTION:
1. Plans, coordinates, and implements comprehensive public relations programs for the JCPenney Company Private and proprietary brands.
2. Plans, coordinates, and implements proactive publicity programs to support the JCPenney Company brands, complement the overall
brand strategy and reinforce the corporate position to ensure positive publicity.
3. Continually builds an understanding and knowledge of the Company's corporate strategy, brands, businesses, and their competitive environments to optimize and develop strategic media opportunities and ongoing business media relations initiatives that will enhance the Company/s branding efforts.
4. Initiates, participates, and contributes in the development of publicity ideas for the Company's brands that maintain the desired
brand/Company image.
5. Spearheads content development as appropriate for the Company's brands, and maintains close working relationships with strategic
media outlets and opinion leaders to facilitate brand publicity and positively influence the editorial coverage of JCPenney brands.
6. Develops and executes annual Public Relations plans for key brand initiatives in order to support brand marketing efforts. Initiates the
development and implementation of press materials and media events, including conferences, briefings and media tours.
7. Explores opportunities for increased incremental sales as appropriate within the Company's brands.
8. Maintains integrity of assigned programs to promote a strong and consistent Company/brand image.
9. Handles or provides support in the appropriate, timely handling of Company news and responses to media inquiries.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
1. Works with the Director of Public Affairs to develop strategic Public Relations plans for JCPenney Brands.
2. Meets with senior management associates in merchandising, marketing and other appropriate Company businesses enterprise-wide
on matters concerning the Company's brands image or reputation.
3. Works with other associates in Public Relations and Brand Publicity.
4. Maintains strong working relationship with key strategic media outlets to facilitate positive coverage of JCPenney Brands.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: 4-year degree from an accredited college or university in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or English.
Experience: 7-9 years (or more) of Corporate Communications and/or Public Relations Agency experience, with emphasis in Marketing Communications, Editorial Public Relations and Business Media (specifically Wall Stree Journal, New York Times, Business Week, Newsweek and USA Today). Proven success with brand building and brand launch required. Consumer product experience strongly preferred.
Core Competencies: Impeccable writing skills, dynamic personality, team player, ability to juggle many projects and tasks simultaneously in a very fast-paced environment.
