Sr. Competitive Analyst

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Perform competitive analysis of servers, software and services for the IT industry.
* Work with the cross-SMI competitive analysts to collect, analyze and develop competitive tools and documents to help the field compete against competitors.
* Lead the competitive response process for major competitive announcements.
* Make assessments of competitors, understand the implications to Sun, and make recommendations.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
* Knowledge of IT industry (understand competitive landscape) including servers, software and services
* Excellent project management skills and virtual team management
* Strong business, industry, market and competitive analysis skills
* Broad understanding of Sun's products and services
* Technical skills and knowledge
* Excellent oral and written communication skills

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:
* Experience in competitive intelligence
* Product management or product marketing experience
* Vertical industry knowledge including financial, telco, manufacturing, etc
* Strategic planning

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 5 years

MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION: BA/BS
