Celera has a successful molecular diagnostics business and powerful genomic and proteomic discovery platforms that have identified and validated new drug targets and biomarkers that will advance the practice of Targeted Medicine. Celera develops and sells a growing number of molecular diagnostic products through a profit-sharing strategic alliance with Abbott Laboratories. In addition, the company is developing new molecular diagnostics and pharmacogenomic tests outside of its alliance with Abbott, and is creating additional value through collaborations based on its genomic discoveries, including new druggable targets, new indications for existing drugs, and pharmacogenomic markers for predicting therapy response. Celera is also using its high-throughput proteomics discovery platform to identify and validate novel targets in cancer. Therapeutic antibodies against these targets are being advanced through strategic partnerships.


Celera seeks an exceptional business development professional for the high profile/high impact role of Senior Director, Business Development.  Working closely with senior business and scientific management, the Sr. Director, Business Development will leverage pharmaceutical industry experience to identify partnerships, collaborations and execute deals and maximize value of platform/technology.  This individual will be responsible for creating value from Celera’s genomics platform and actively identifying and prioritizing potential new pharma partners for collaborations. Will be responsible for identifying and developing opportunities for marketing activities with pharmaceutical companies to promote new genetic tests.  Will assist in developing marketing strategy for companion diagnostic products with pharma impact using drug development and commercialization experience and knowledge.  This individual will be responsible for providing competitive intelligence in the pharmacogenomics area and will be involved in business development and strategic planning activities for Celera’s major ongoing efforts in diagnostics and proteomics.   The Sr. Director, Business Development will also conduct market research in support of the development of Celera’s business strategies.



Requirements for this position include ten years previous licensing/Business Development experience.  Direct experience in pharma industry required, including demonstrated success in building business relationships and establishing collaborations. This position requires leveraging existing relationships in the pharmaceutical industry to foster business opportunities. Genomics and/or biology background required. Demonstrated experience in financial analysis. B.S. degree in life sciences required. Experience in a GMP/QSR environment a plus.
