Job Description

Strategy - Create and drive the direction of Marketing strategy for Ultrasound & Monitoring (UM) to achieve profitable market share growth. In support of the strategy, directs and leads the Business Units (BUus) in taking advantage of their market position through price, place, promotion and product. Additionally, leading market growth initiatives with new products and new segments.

Financial - Drive the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) of UM to reach agreed upon (Carrousel meeting) objectives for orders, sales and contribution margin, IFO and cash flow. Develop stretch targets to capitalize on upside market potential. Monitor performance on a monthly basis and identify and remedy gaps in actual performance versus AOP and stretch targets. Ensure the business is within expense budget guidelines.

Customer - Champion the voice of the customer as a mechanism to calibrate long-term Marketing strategy. Drive customer loyalty by directing focusing to resolution of product reliability and product gaps, services and solutions offered to the market. Responsible for directing the BU leaders to remedy the product and service gaps contributing to poor customer satisfaction. Resolves customer problems that escalate through to executive management in a timely manner. Determine when and how to solicit additional resources to resolve product performance and reliability issues.

Product - Ensure that the BUs maintain a focus on the market and its development by establishing customer relationships with key opinion leaders. Direct UM in the translation of market insight to tangible, actionable data that can be utilized for future positioning and product development. Work with the BU leaders to manage the relationship with the Product Manufacturing Groups (PMG). Ensure that the necessary feedback is given to the PMGs regarding the markets, competition, product and application developments.

People - Motivate, manage and inspire commitment from direct reports - Business Unit Leaders (Ultrasound, Patient Monitoring, Diagnostic ECG, Cardiac Resuscitation and Consumables) to meet company goals and their individual objectives. Develop all personnel to their fullest extent by helping them to find better ways to reach their personal and business objectives. Capitalize on Philips development programs in order to build skills for the future.

Pricing - Responsible for defining and implementing pricing strategies, policies and processes that maximize Philips financial objectives as well as optimizing Philips competitive position in the marketing place. The complex nature of pricing requires balancing the current market conditions with prediction of future market conditions while meeting margin targets. Pricing decisions that are made in response to current market conditions include promotion, field discount authority, GPO, strategic alliance and volume contracts. Pricing decisions that are made in support of future market conditions include value based pricing, pricing trends and price points for future road maps.

Requirements

Graduate level education in a business or technical discipline (BS with graduate level preferred)
Experience in the marketing of capital equipment within the hospital (healthcare) environment. Comprehensive understanding of the business environments in Imaging Systems, Healthcare IT and Ultrasound Monitoring.
Business acumen and judgment to make competent decisions. Strategic thinker who can uncover opportunity.
Ability to positively influence others on a highly matrixed environment.
Demonstrated leadership ability. An effective team player and team builder who is able to build relationships with cross functional teams.
Ability to understand market dynamics and customer requirements to provide input to the product creation process.
Able to maintain existing customer relationships and establish new relationships with key opinion leaders in the medical and business environment.
Strong analytical skills. Able to diagnose and solve problems on both ad hoc and process basis. Able to capitalize on competitive strengths while overcoming weaknesses and thwarting competitive threats.
Highly driven, self-motivated and goal oriented.
Excellent presentation and written skills.
