TRADE MEDIA RELATIONS - Program Leader

The Trade Media Relations Program Leader will:Create, disseminate and leverage news items about Timken business with new and existing customers, new technology and product innovations and other company successes to build Timken's public profile with various external stakeholders in key global markets through increased media coverage. Build and strengthen relationships with key media outlets, focusing on trade media in critical geographic and vertical markets, to increase the quantity and quality of stories focused on Timken. Create and manage a global network and process for linking into Industrial, Automotive and Steel businesses and communication plans to generate a steady flow of strategically relevant news leads. Transform this raw material into compelling customer-win news releases and media interview opportunities to drive positive media coverage of Timken. Continuously improve communications procedures and programs already in place to improve efficiency and better leverage communications resources. Review and manage advertising opportunities with trade and general media outlets to advance key elements of Timken's corporate reputation.




Experience must have given candidate the opportunity to develop and demonstrate the following competencies:

Bachelor's degree, Masters a plus, and 5-8 years prior experience within a corporate or public-sector public or media relations department, business-to-business public relations agency or news organization.
Creating and distributing news content in U.S. and international markets
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
Work under deadline pressure
Handle variety of assignments simultaneously 
Strong relationship building/management skills
Work directly in professional manner with journalists, editors and various levels of management
Strong copy-writing experience required and will be evaluated based on standard writing exercise administered by communications upon application; demonstrated ability to coordinate executive media interviews, media tours/road shows, publication production, advertising development and relationship-building with key journalists/editors.
Experience working across cultures and geographies is important to success in this position.
