Overview of Position:

Provide support, training and technical troubleshooting for Advertising's desktop system (Mac platform) and supervise system support technicians.

Key Accountabilities: Provide technical assistance to Advertising staff on a daily basis in their use of the computer technology.Perform first line troubleshooting on hardware/software problems and calls appropriate vendors if needed. Supervise system support technicians and develop appropriate projects and goals. Develop, maintain and provide regular preventive maintenance for Macs. Maintain and support Advertising laser printers, large format printers, color printers. Install and support software VPN solution for mobile and home users. Evaluate, test and schedule installation of software/hardware upgrades as needed. Provide and install updated virus definitions as needed. Assist system administrator in testing server and network software and hardware. Facilitate the reporting of user anomalies to the system administrator and document when applicable.Maintain and support laptops and supply check-out system for their use. Manage in-house training schedule or tutorials and/or arrange for outside training.Enhance training program by developing user aids and conducting training meetings. Develop and maintain LDAP authentication on OS X Server. Test and evaluate all new staff and freelancers for computer literacy when applicable. Review results with appropriate manager or supervisor. Provide and develop emergency procedures for outsourcing jobs and train staff when necessary. Purchase all necessary peripheral and printer supplies as needed and process applicable invoices for payment. Develop project management plans for sytem/software rollouts. Work as pat of the Technology team in planning, organizing and forecasting future technical needs. Maintain emergency offsite co-location, ensuring primary creative workflow can be exactly replicated and implemented rapidly. Oversee ongoing direction for, development of, and maintenance on, internal Technology Knowledgebase.

Skills Summary: 5 years in retail advertising production. 4 years in Macintosh based system. 3 years supervisory experience.Thorough knowledge of desktop publishing and OS X, both client and server. Basic knowledge of WindowsXP Bachelor's degree or comparable work experience in desktop publishing, Graphic Design, or Web Design, and/or technical support environment. Self-starter. Detail oriented and organized. Excellent analytical and communication's skills. Ability to work well under pressure, enjoys problem solving and works well with people. Extremely literate in Mac OS X client and comfortable in OS X Server. Evangelize and promote mandated technology changes and advancements Literate in Adobe Creative Suite. Fundamental knowledge of MS Office, AppleScript, & networking. Familiarity and ability to work with Terminal (UNIX command line), FTP technologies (Cyberduck, Transmit), Quickeys, Apple iApps, Firefox, Safari, Remote Desktop Connection, Citrix, Tech Tool Pro, Retrospect, Acrobat Distiller, Stuffit Deluxe.
