Vice President of Business Development-Financial Markets
Position Summary:
Harte-Hanks National Markets Organization (NMO) consists of five main verticals: pharmaceutical, financial, retail, technology/telecom, and select markets. Your sole responsibility is business development for a specific set of Retail Bank accounts for our Financial Markets Organization (FMO). The Vice President of Business Development will serve as a senior leader for the ongoing development and management of three or four of our major Retail Bank accounts. This person will assume the leadership position on these accounts and will have the responsibility to nurture and grow the relationships.
Qualifications:
This position requires a seasoned professional (5-7 years sales or Direct Marketing agency account supervisor or above experience) with a proven record in marketing multiple direct marketing/CRM solutions and services to major banks. The successful candidate must be an exceptional communicator with a strong team orientation and a facility for understanding direct marketing/CRM solutions and their application to business needs. The right person for this position will be able to understand client business goals, listen and recognize buying signals/selling opportunities, and uncover new ways for Harte-Hanks to serve our clients with new solutions and expanded programs. The ability to cross sell to existing accounts is essential.
Account and communication strategy development, introducing and selling new products and services, and growing our relationship within accounts by penetrating new departments, product groups, divisions, or business units will be a key to success. This Business Development professional must be able to demonstrate the initiative to maneuver within existing accounts and meet the key players/decision makers across various departments and product groups, including the procurement/sourcing Department.
Bachelor?s degree in business or marketing required.

? Versatility: Candidate needs to demonstrate the ability to manage complex technical sales and marketing initiatives involving multiple product groups and divisions (without much formal support).
? Marketing: This professional must understand and be able to communicate practical marketing applications to clients.
? Empathy: Strong listening skills ensuring that we are responding to client business needs is critical.
? Collaboration: This professional must have the ability to coordinate activities across multiple Harte-Hanks operating units to ensure that client needs are being met.
? Account Leadership: Ability to link resources, and ensure great service while pursuing growth opportunities within existing accounts.
Responsibilities:
He/she will lead all aspects of the sales effort within an existing client. In addition, he/she will act as a conduit between the customer contacts and appropriate technical/support personnel in the Harte-Hanks operating units specializing in various aspects of Marketing Services & CRM solutions and services. They must be able to identify, organize and focus the resources required to effect the sale. Specifically, this Business Developer will manage the following:
? Needs assessments
? Competitive positioning
? Needs-based proposal development
? Post-proposal issues resolution
? Capability presentations(s)
? Product Demonstrations(s)
? Contract development and execution
? Senior level client relationship development
? Existing revenue retention & growth ? overall Financial results
? Penetration of other business units/departments/divisions at client accounts
? Knowledge/expertise in multi-unit/multi-service account selling & servicing
? Financial industry expertise
? Leading the account, strategically
? Leading the Harte-Hanks account team, operationally
? Coordinate successful interaction between the client, and the unit-based account teams managing client accounts.
? Participate in all key project team meetings, either in person or via telephone.
? Have a clear understanding of client needs and business objectives to ensure we are surpassing client expectations.
? Be on constant alert regarding competition and their inroads at assigned clients and be able to communicate intelligence gathered to management.
