Director of Financial Accounting

 

SUMMARY:  Lead and direct the daily execution of general financial accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable, cash management, equity accounting, and acquisition accounting.  Manage staff and budgets.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Direct the analysis, preparation, and closing of consolidated global financial statements, ensuring consistency and compliance with GAAP and SEC requirements.  Consult with international teams to facilitate inter-company reconciliation and integration of inter-company information into US JDE system. As company treasurer, direct all cash management (disbursements and related accounting).  Keep abreast of foreign currency exchange trends, and establish accounting protocols for all currency conversions. Direct general ledger and accounts payable functions, including review of account reconciliations and related general ledger tasks.  Enhance accounting control environment: review, document, and test internal controls; identify opportunities for streamlining or redesigning accounting and internal control processes. Review critical account analyses for month-, quarter- and year-end close. Manage staff, ensuring that qualified employees are hired and cross-trained; evaluate staff performance and provide professional development and career path opportunities. Direct equity plan accounting for stock options and restricted stock grants. Direct acquisition accounting for all goodwill and intangibles. Consult with the Tax Director on tax accounting matters; maintain tax ledger. Consult with Human Resources and Payroll on corporate personnel matters. Serve as the financial accounting team lead for SOX compliance; oversee the review of current processes, and implement changes to ensure that financial accounting mechanism comply with SOX regulations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and experience: Bachelor?s degree, CPA, and 10+ years of progressively responsible public and private accounting experience, including multi-company and multi-business consolidations, international accounting experience, and five years in a managerial role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

SKILLS:

? Excellent accounting and financial analysis skills.

? Strong knowledge of SEC regulations, SOX, GAAP, FASB pronouncements, corporate taxes, and treasury management functions.

? Ability to effectively interact and communicate in an internal cross-functional team set-up as well as with business managers.

? Hands-on, results-oriented dynamic leader with ability to effectively manage and motivate staff to achieve superior results.

? Ability to drive accounting functions to enhance efficiencies.

? Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced environment in order to meet multiple changing business priorities.

? Knowledge of standard office software, preferably MS Office and JD Edwards.
