1151AR Product Engineer

Job Description:
Responsible for the design, development, specifications, and standards for aerospace fasteners in compliance with customer requirements. 
Work with Manager, Engineering to provide onsite engineering consultation.
Plan, develop, coordinate and maintain the most effective and efficient procedures for optimum engineering practices.
Work well and effectively communicate with all levels within company vendors and customers Assist as a liaison between customer, Engineering department and the company in all aspects of design, tooling qualification and production capability.
Responds to product information requests from Marketing, Focused Factories, and Customers.
Determine inspection plans and test instructions to conform to customer engineering requirements. 
Monitor effectiveness to meet the acceptable standards established by customer design, specification, and/or contract.
Assist Quality organization with specification interpretation and defect assessment and corrective actions.
Consult with Focused Factories Engineers over technical, productivity, cost, or quality issues.
Audit the maintenance and/or replacement of all tools, gauges, fixtures and equipment for the tool and engineering departments and provide capital budgets for inclusion in the business plan. 
Audit the maintenance of current and adequate engineering and design records.
Assist QA or production by providing investigation of product discrepancy to determine origin and corrective action.
Provide liaison in customer engineering inquiries and a focal point for evaluation and resolution of design, reliability, and related problems.
Collect and reports Engineering costs, data and trends to management on a regular basis.
Facilitate complete compliance to approved engineering doctrines and aid in quality-oriented employee training to ensure success of the entire quality program.
Assist in Material Review Board (MRB) actives. 
Assist in internal audit activities. 

? Communicates with material suppliers and process or machining subcontractors over quality issues, and technical specification interpretation.
Writes specifications.
Requests engineering changes.
Requests R&D or QA special testing to answer customer information requests.
Requests R&D or QA special testing to resolve quality issues.
Monitors manufacturing and Quality progress and adherence to requirements on Boeing Qualification program.
Interprets, and prepares TSO (Technical Service Order) requests to the FAA, attends meeting as necessary.

 

Qualifications:
Minimum five years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. 
Experience with ISO9000 and/or AS9100 systems and part/tool design. 
CAD experience is required.
Proficiency with Windows applications and database management systems required.
Fastener experience preferred.
Experience with high volume small parts production.

 

 Education Preferences:
M.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
