3470 Project Engineer - Systems
Ensures timely and efficient completion of systems engineering design and analysis projects to support customer and market objectives. Acts as project leader with technical responsibility for requirements management, systems design solutions, and system validation projects or phases of major projects. Systems solutions must include existing product utilization, cost optimization, manufacturing initiatives, and life cycle considerations.
1. Determines project specifications by studying system design, customer program requirements (including performance and data requirements), functional diagrams, schematics and interface control documents; completing technical studies; and preparing cost estimates. Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements and assigning staffing and resources.
2. Prepares project plans and related schedules by studying customer and systems specifications; calculating time and cost/budget requirements; and sequencing project elements. Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems. Prepares project status reports/milestones for review with customers and other teams.
3. Provides technical system information affecting long-range plant and product engineering planning. Communicates with customers to identify new business opportunities, present Parker systems capabilities, and clarify customers? technical requirements. May write technical proposals for customers by reviewing and interpreting system requirements.
4. Leads studies to evaluate or determine feasibility of new or modified equipment and related systems considering technical and economic factors, available resources, time constraints, and customer impact. Presents study results and recommendations to division and branch staff and customers.
5. Ensures system and lifecycle performance validation for projects is complete and adequate. Defines and documents system descriptions and validation processes, including required embedded traceability, necessary to achieve acceptance. Develops predictive models that satisfactorily simulate and verify system performance.
6. Prepares or directs preparation of system layout, detailed drawings, and schematics by coordinating with engineering design, interpreting customer and functional requirements, or by using engineering computer-aided design tools and following industry and/or military design standards. Develops critical data and makes preliminary system layouts and documentation necessary to present system proposals to customers.
7. Maintains engineering project database by establishing engineering history files, project files, technical data, and related information to provide repository for technical project activities, current activities, and future records.
8. Applies and may lead continuous improvement initiatives in system engineering or across other teams. Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; proposes changes in methods and procedures.
9. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, benchmarking best practices, and/or participating in professional associations.
10. Complies with Parker policies and aerospace industry regulations. Consistently applies established engineering practices, standards, and documentation methods.
11. Represents company on overall system projects; acts as consultant significant customer issues and may serve as a subject expert. Shares specialized knowledge with others. Identifies mentoring needs and mentors less experienced employees. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Candidate will be responsible for evaluating Customer's high-level aircraft/system requirements, conduct trade studies leading to a proposed solution, analyze solutions, document and report findings (written and orally).
Self motivated and empowered, candidate will possess demonstrated experience working both independently and as a technical team lead in support of completing assigned responsiblities within budget and the defined milestone schedule.
