Assembly Specialist

Wichita, Kansas is the headquarters for Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., which was purchased by Onex Corp. from Boeing Commercial Airplanes in 2005. In addition to Wichita, the company has operations in Tulsa and McAlester, Oklahoma, and the United Kingdom. Spirit AeroSystems supplies commercial airplane assemblies and components, provides aftermarket support, and designs and fabricates tooling.

Job Description:
Staffs, assigns tasks, and checks finished products and services. Conducts, or has influence upon the people, budget, and business-related processes for the work group. Staffing and developing consists of acquiring employees, deploying to programs per program requirement, developing employees, conducting and participating in people processes, determining skills requirements, work group activities and responsibility for work group performance against program commitments. Ensures the manufacture of completed units by overseeing activities such as assembly of components into subassemblies, mating or joining of structural assemblies (metallic and nonmetallic); installation of systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic) that are fastened with screws, bolts, rivets or adhesives; and testing with mechanical, electrical, and electronic test equipment. Interfaces with engineering, management, suppliers, and customers to meet product requirements and customer acceptance.REQUIREMENTSSkills & Qualifications:
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to function in a fast-paced team environment.

Educational Qualifications:
Prefer a bachelor?s degree or a minimum of 5 years experience with a working knowledge of structural assembly. Previous management experience a plus. Computer experience also a plus, but not required.
