CERTIFICATION ENGINEER

 

Columbia Aircraft Manufacturing Corp, Bend, Oregon is searching for a qualified Certification Engineer: 

Responsible for the following;

 

To obtain FAA approval of design data including, but not limited to, drawings, non-conformance reports (NCR?s), specifications, work instructions, service documents, and manuals using the methods in the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Seattle Aircraft Certification Office (SACO).

 

Write certification plans and assist in writing certification reports, writing and updating service bulletins, instructions, and letters, and  maintaining the Engineering Procedures Manual.

 

Qualified candidate will also assist in coordinates foreign certification of CAM aircraft and working with Technical Writer as needed in revising and maintaining aircraft publications, including but not limited to: 

(1) The Airplane Maintenance Manual, (2) Pilot?s Operating Handbook and FAA Approved Flight Manual, (3) The Airplane Parts Catalog, (4) Airplane Wiring Manual.

 

REPORTS TO: Certification Manager, who in turn reports to the VP of Engineering.

 

DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

?  FAA Approval/Compliance:  Obtain FAA approval of design data, aircraft publications, and service documents through the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Seattle Aircraft Certification Office (SACO).

?  Support:  Assist personnel in writing and researching type design data and certification reports.

?  Publications/Manuals:  Assist Technical Writer as needed with creating and maintaining thorough revisions for all relevant publications through verbal and written communication.

?  Service Documents:  Assist in writing and updating service documents and obtaining FAA approval. 

?  International Certification: Assist in coordinating and obtaining International approvals of aircraft type designs for export of aircraft to country of intent based on written request from Sales Department

?  Other related duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

 

?  Knowledge of FAA regulatory agencies and their procedures,  Part 23 regulations

?  Advanced computer skills, advanced writing and verbal skills, grammar, and punctuation

?  Ability to work independently and to gather information from various colleagues

?  Ability to understand technical drawings and reports

?  Basic knowledge in CADKey and Autocad, and electrical diagrams and terms

?  General aviation knowledge

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

?  BS degree or equivalent, 3 years experience (preferably in an Engineering Discipline)

?  Administrative DER or ability to obtain Administrative DER within one year (8 years engineering experience, however an Engineering BS will count for four years of the experience)

?  Pilot?s license is desirable
