CNC Machinist Trainee

Major Purpose of Position

With direct support from supervisor and/or senior machinist, Machinist trainee must learn to operate machines per Company planning and/or program and ensure quality parts in a most efficiency manner

Job Function

Follow all instructions, improving skills daily to produce good parts.  Works along with all floor supervisors and leadpeople making every effort to maintain all production schedules.  Works with quality control personnel, concerning any particular part or job that may be running on his/her machine, to maintain the highest 'quality assurance' possible.  Works with all maintenance personnel, to maintain peak performance of any machine he/she may be operating.  Works along with any needed floor supporters to maintain production flow, on or off machine and assure safety habits.

Organizing and Planning

Must keep his/her work place organized and clean (follow 5S guide line).  Prior to performing task, the Machinist Trainee must read and receive direction regarding planning/work instructions and learn to prepare a setup, including the preparation of all needed tools.

Communication

Written:  Must have good penman ship for filling out necessary documents needed for production flow such as S.P.C., Time cards, Instructions note for next shift etc.

Knowledge

High school diploma or G.E.D. (math highly needed) may require blueprint reading, understanding machine shop terminology, able to learn how to use and understand machinists tools EX:micrometers, calipers, indicators etc.

Physical

Must be able to lift and/or push up to 50 lb., able to stand for long periods of time, squat, kneel, step up and down on a regular basis.
