Chemical Handler/ Assistant Laboratory Technician

Position Overview: This is a hands-on position in which the individual has the primary responsibility to track and maintain chemical inventory, receive and transport chemicals and assist with basic chemical laboratory work.

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

 

Inventory Control: Track chemical inventory and maintain chemical storage areas. Assist in coordinating all manifests and shipments/deliveries of chemicals and hazardous material. Route chemicals from storage and loading docks to various departments.

 

Chemical Activities: Monitor chemical levels and temperatures in processing tanks and perform chemical additions and titrations. Perform chemistry make-ups of various solutions. Carry out chemical maintenance of vapor degreaser.

 

Quality Control: Assist with anodic coating weight testing and complete associated records. Assist with calibrations of control devices relating to waste treatment and production processes.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

 

Forklift certification preferred

 

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and applicable data entry software applications

 

Knowledge of general safety and handling procedures related to the storage and handling of hazardous chemicals or items of similar classification

 

Must be detail-oriented and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel within the organization.

 

Continuous Improvement:

 

Take part in on-going training sessions related to chemical processes, procedures, specifications and qualifications as well as training in various areas of quality control.

 

Participate in periodic testing and performance evaluations

 

Participate in MIL Quality, Process and Safety related continuous process improvement programs.

 

Minimum Job Requirements:

 

Must be willing to work overtime

 

Must have a high school diploma or higher
