Communications Engineer

Internet Services Administrator for the Treasury Communications System (TCS) project will provide support to Treasury bureaus for all TCS provided Internet related services. He/She will work in a NOC environment and must have good customer relations skills. As one of the largest private networks in the world, TCS offers a challenging, team oriented environment with cutting edge Internet technologies. Duties will include firewall, DNS, messaging, and X.500 administration, minor Unix shell or perl scripting, as well as other duties as assigned. Extra emphasis will be given to candidates with Symantec Enterprise firewall and/or Cisco PIX experience. Experience with F5 BigIP load balancers, switches, X.500, or Active directory is a plus. Position will be based in McLean VA and requires weekend, holiday and possible shift work.

 

Requires a B.S. or equivalent, with a minimum of four years related work experience. The successful candidate will be proficient in one of the following areas and very willing to learn the others: Unix, SMTP, DNS, Firewalls (Symantec or Cisco preferred), LDAP, X.500, IDS, VPN, PostFix, Veritas HA software, and F5's Big IP load balancing devices. Candidates must also have in depth knowledge of TCP/IP, be able to work problems to resolution, be self-motivated, and have the ability to troubleshoot in a large enterprise environment. Must be able to work with all levels of personnel, be detail-oriented and have the ability to work under pressure. Shift, weekend, and holiday work are required. Top Secret/SSBI required.
