Director of Contracts

Our client a high-tech manufacturing company providing integrated solutions, program management, full life-cycle support, and state-of-the-art products to a broad range of customers.

 

They currently have a need for a Director of Contracts to protect the interests of the Corporation in its contractual relationships through the proposal, contract negotiation, award, administration, and closeout phases. In addition, the Director is responsible for the proper preparation, negotiation, execution, compliance, and administration of proposals, contracts, or other contractual agreements for sale, lease, license, or consignment of products and services of the company. 

 

 

Specific responsibilities include:

 Reviewing all proposals and contract actions processed within the department, prior to signature or negotiation, to ensure that appropriate factors have been considered and all necessary information has been gathered. Assuring soundness of analysis, good business judgment, compliance with policies and procedures, adequacy of results, and that all costs and reasonable fees have been provided for. Negotiating with individuals that have different negotiation objectives or representing divergent interests to obtain contractual agreement on terms and conditions that are in the best interest of the Corporation. Obtaining agreement on previously determined goals and objectives through negotiation, persuasion, and advocacy. Providing the leadership and direction for contract management and purchasing functions. Providing business management advice and counsel to the organization regarding contract policies, procedures and other business and contractual matters. Establish, develop and maintain effective business relationships with, and serve as principal contractual point of contact with, government, commercial, foreign and domestic customers.

 

The ideal candidate will possess a B.S. degree in Business or related field is required and 15 or more years of progressive experience in contracts & purchasing in a government/manufacturing environment (with 10+ years in a managerial role).  Proven negotiating skills and the ability to exercise sound business judgment and discretion is critical.
