Director of Engineering - SPACE

Exp with NASA, DARPA, Air force and or Space vehicles is a desired.

 

We'd like to find an individual who has exp supervising/training/managing  50+ designers/engineers. Exposure to or knowledge of Structures, Avionics, Systems and Software is desired.

 

Exp with managing training, budgets, interviewing and hiring is a must.

 

BS Degree preferred.  Experience with MRB preferred.


DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING

 

Responsibilities:


Provide management oversight of engineering function within the company.

 

Insure all required engineering data necessary for ongoing product development and product/customer support efforts available on schedule and in form and format to support FAA or other regulatory agency approval ie: NASA, DARPA, DOD.

 

Define required staffing levels to support engineering efforts necessary to meet goals defined by management.

 

Collect and report Engineering costs, data, and trends to management on a regular basis.

 

Develop metrics to monitor and measure outside engineering resources utilized by the company.

 

Create required product specifications to support development of new products, purchased components utilized in products, and customer specific requirements. 

 

Develop engineering process plans and procedures appropriate to a small company working with major systems integration projects.

 

Identify and recommend changes to Information Technology tools as vendor products and and contract requirements evolve.

 

Support New Business Development efforts as required in development and presentation of technical information to customers.

 

Convene and lead Advisory Risk Boards as required.

 

Minimum Experience:


A minimum of 8 years experience in Management. SPACE exp required.

 

Experience supervising ~50 engineers/designers.

 

In depth knowledge of systems engineering for space systems, including launch vehicles, propulsion system, in-space systems, and ground infrastructure.

 

Ability to undertake engineering design and analysis.

 

Demonstrated ability to manage internal and external engineering resources.

 

Excellent verbal and written communications skills with ability to present in large and small group environments.

 

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint

Familiarity with Pro-Engineer, Solid Works desirable.
