JOB SUMMARY:

The Engineering Manager for the Design Verification group manages approximately 5-10 engineers consisting of test engineers and engineering analysts.  He also manages engineering controlled development test facilities and qualification test activities.

 

ROLE:

The role of the engineering manager for the design verification group is to verify that new designs or design changes to existing products meet the customer?s product specification requirements through engineering analysis, qualification testing or both.

 

JOB DUTIES:

?  Administrative management of 5-10 engineers.  Coordinates and supports program managers through collaborative allocation of engineering analysis and test resources.

?  Recruits new test and analysis personnel, coaches and mentors his staff and conducts performance assessment reviews.  With the director of engineering, he identifies immediate and long term training requirements.  With the director of Human Resources he coordinates training classes. 

?  With program mangers and project engineers, he manages day to day activities of test engineers and engineering analysts to ensure that all programs are properly staffed and all commitments are met. 

?  He will be responsible for ensuring that the test facilities are properly equipped.  With the facilities manger, he will manage the design and build of new test facilities as needed.

?  He creates a test schedule then provides input to the master scheduler to maintain an Integrated Master Schedule using MS Project.

?  Attends monthly resource council meetings.

?  Creates and maintains monthly cost and schedule performance metrics for the design verification group. 

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

?  Minimum 5 years experience in personnel administrative management to include recruiting, coaching, mentoring and performance assessment is required.

?  Minimum 8-10 years progressive experience in analysis and testing of metallic aircraft structures, mechanisms and sub-systems is required.

?  Excellent verbal and written skills is required.

?  Proficiency with MS Office products Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint and Project is required

?  CATIA or Unigraphics skills are desired

?  Some travel is required.

?  Must be able to obtain a security clearance.

?  Program management experience is desired.

 

EDUCATION:

 

?  B.S. or higher degree from an accredited university in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering or related field is required.

?  MS in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.

?  Six Sigma certification is preferred

?  Program Management certification preferred
